My Design - an interior designers' own home

An addition built for an Interior Designer, at her own family home. A musically inclined family in search of a performance space and an improved connection to the rear yard. A sunken family room with expansive glass and precision detailing was executed successfully. Filled with natural light, stylish art and heated floors, this space is now the favorite gathering spot for the family.

A concealed powder room ties in seamlessly with the millwork of the kitchen with a matching high gloss finish and pocket door to match.

Removing the rear load bearing brick wall creates a flowing connection between the original home and the new addition. A custom walnut bench provides book and art storage and a place to sit and engage with people in either flanking room.

Full spectrum floor to ceiling and wall to wall pella patio doors, coupled with the round velux skylight provide ample light and connection to the outdoors, while sheltering from the elements when desired.

Connection and separation - achieved with custom high gloss paneling which ties to the kitchen, while 3 rises, a bench and T&G walnut ceiling provide visual separation between new and old.

A custom ribbon fire with transom window above and flanking vertical light provide depth, texture, light and warmth to the space.
