Gurgaon Houzz: This Home Has Five-Star Glamour
Luxe finishes and statement-making furniture give this home by Purple Studio a soothing, comforting quality
Design a home where luxury defines the living, dining and family spaces, and earthy decor the bedrooms. This was the brief given to Deepti Bansal and Joaquim Rodrigues, co-founders of Purple Studio. Keeping this in mind, they used materials, textures and fabrics to create a glamorous home with a warm and inviting vibe. The living zones exude over-the-top grandeur with Italian marble flooring and eye-catching sculptures, while the bedrooms channel pared-down, understated elegance.
The foyer leads to an open family area. “The family room is an elegant zone with a grandfather clock that has been passed down two generations. The large artwork (at left) is a bold splash of colour in an otherwise neutral palette space. Gold-trimmed furniture and decor pieces contribute to the grandeur of the room,” says Bansal.

A sculptural light fixture at the far end of a wide corridor catches the eye as one enters this area. The ethereal glow is a warm, welcoming experience,” Rodrigues says.

The corridor leads to the living room, which is furnished with custom seating upholstered in leather and fabric. An ornate chandelier, brass embellishments on the wall, and gold trimming on the coffee table and the tufted seats add a touch of glamour.

On the left side of the corridor is the dining area. The marble wall behind the table is an interesting work of art: concentric circles of gilded silhouettes of hundreds of animals. “The subdued glow from the reflection bounces off the marble wall, giving an inviting feel. The brass leg detailing of the swivel chairs and console complements the decor while the solid-wood dining table grounds the space,” says Rodrigues.

A palette of brass, gold and browns suffuses this spot. Undertones of brown in the flooring and textured upholstery serve as a neutral backdrop to the metallic accents.
An expansive balcony abuts the living area and can be accessed from other rooms of the home as well. A raised deck space has been created to further demarcate lounging space.

On the other side of the common foyer is the daughter’s bedroom with subtle, calming pastels. The decor is vintage, with a white cane bed, an aqua-blue wardrobe, a cheval glass for a dressing mirror and a tufted bedroom bench.

One can reach the terrace from this bedroom as well. “We designed separate seating zones and levels here for social gatherings,” says Rodrigues.

The house is entered through the foyer, where a wooden console welcomes visitors with a chic display of curios and an abstract painting. It sets the tone for the home: quiet elegance in a neutral palette, spelling serene luxury. The sleek metal hat and coat stand next to it adds function to the entry space, while a slatted wood partition demarcates the entry from the rest of the home and ensures privacy.
