The home owners are skilled architects, so the layout and space planning was done by them. The kitchen in this house was really complex for us to execute. The finish is solid polished teak and painted wood. The cabinetry on the 'wet' side (ie; sink and hob) has a full stone carcass- only the shutters and drawers are of wood. The alignment of the screws and channels had to be very precise. If I'm not mistaken, the kitchen alone has 26 or 27 drawers. Most of our kitchens are far more modest; there is a higher proportion of shuttered cabinetry to drawer storage. The central island also has a very specific configuration- veggie storage, space for bar stools, open wicker baskets, glassware.
