This kitchen was about to draw its last breath. Everything- from cabinetry, civil work, electrical wiring, plumbing, sink, hob, chimney to counter top- had to be replaced. The old kitchen had to be taken apart, and disposed of sensibly. The new one had to be partly constructed elsewhere, but a major portion had to be done in-situ. We also had to build a new 3" high brick ledge on the floor on which the sink side cabinetry would rest. And this had to be tiled too. And all of this had to be done in 15 days because a big official dinner had been planned and could not be moved to another day. The team of carpenters, stone cutters, brick and tile layers, plumber and electrician rose to the challenge. Not to mention, our hosts who were very encouraging and co-operative with the mess that they had to live in during that period. The results are gratifying
