Chandini's home makeover

Chandini Iyer approached me to give her old three bedroom flat a face-lift. Not only did she have a lot of memorablia from her travels all over the world, she also had a vast art collection. So while I coaxed her to get rid of a lot of the unnecessary stuff, (including clothes and junk jewellery) I also realised that i have to give her some areas to display her most treasured pieces. Another issue: apart from being mum to three high spirited grown-ups, she also has two feisty beagles whom she dotes on. I had to factor that in. I felt a sectional sofa would be required in the living room, but we would have to provide easy-to-wash slip covers in addition to the fitted ones
The original colours of her home were warm- dark wood, reds, browns, yellows and greens. The floor and walls were beige.

I wanted to completely get away from that scheme and introduce cooler colours like blue, teal, silver grey. We also renovated her three bathrooms (not shown here) I used warm grey tiles for the floor with some accent tiles for the passage into the living room. We used silver grey textured paint from Asian Paints for one accent wall and a very similar looking wallpaper for the TV panel and display panel at the entrance
