Starting with a uniquely shaped room and large window, our client was able to get all their desired features in the space. A dark island with seating for three, as well as a built in table with enough room for six.

Is knocking down a wall can be a good option ? YES ! Especially if the outcome is adorable like this one !

These homeowners like to entertain and wanted their kitchen and dining room to become one larger open space. To achieve that feel, an 8-foot-high wall that closed off the dining room from the kitchen was removed. By designing the layout in a large “L” shape and adding an island, the room now functions quite well for informal entertaining. There are two focal points of this new space – the kitchen island and the contemporary style fireplace. Granite, wood, stainless steel and glass are combined to make the two-tiered island into a piece of art and the dimensional fireplace façade adds interest to the soft seating area. A unique wine cabinet was designed to show off their large wine collection. Stainless steel tip-up doors in the wall cabinets tie into the finish of the new appliances and asymmetrical legs on the island. A large screen TV that can be viewed from both the soft seating area, as well as the kitchen island was a must for these sports fans.

With its cedar shake roof and siding, complemented by Swannanoa stone, this lakeside home conveys the Nantucket style beautifully. The overall home design promises views to be enjoyed inside as well as out with a lovely screened porch with a Chippendale railing. Throughout the home are unique and striking features. Antique doors frame the opening into the living room from the entry. The living room is anchored by an antique mirror integrated into the overmantle of the fireplace. The kitchen is designed for functionality with a 48” Subzero refrigerator and Wolf range. Add in the marble countertops and industrial pendants over the large island and you have a stunning area. Antique lighting and a 19th century armoire are paired with painted paneling to give an edge to the much-loved Nantucket style in the master. The range hood is beautifully hidden within custom recessed cabinetry surrounded by white subway tile and white bead board layered surfaces.

Cosmic Black Granite and maple cabinets: The maple cabinets add warmth and color to the room, while keeping the overall feel light. The cabinet design is simple, no extra frills or decorative features. This creates a perfect stage that allows the bold, luxurious Cosmic Black Granite to be the focus and star of the kitchen. This is great way to use a dark granite on the counters while avoiding a dark or overbearing kitchen. The full granite backsplash is bookmatched so that the pattern runs right up the wall.
