One of the critical elements of this staircase was the thinness of its walls - no thicker than the handrail itself. Another was incorporating the lighting.

The Araluen is an Closed Rise, Cut String Staircase using custom painted turned balusters and posts.This design incorporates a continuous S1 – Moulded Blackbutt Handrail complete with volutes and handcrafted bends in order to produce a continuous handhold throughout the entire staircase. This staircase has been designed to incorporate frets and scotia two components that are rarely seen in modern staircases and are normally only displayed in heritage buildings. With this heritage design in mind the staircase called for the use of recycled timber for the handrail and treads to provide the traditional finishing touches; these together with the volutes’ and turned balusters transform this staircase into a stunning example of the heritage style staircases that OzStair is known for in the industry.
