Before purchasing their early 20th-century Prairie-style home, perfect in so many ways for their growing family, the parents asked LiLu whether its imperfections could be remedied. Specifically, they were sad to leave a kid-focused happy home full of color, pattern, texture, and durability thanks to LiLu. Could the new house, with lots of woodwork, be made brighter and lighter? Of course. In the living areas, LiLu selected a high-gloss turquoise paint that reflects light for selected cabinets and the fireplace surround; the color complements original handmade blue-green tile in the home. Graphic floral and abstract prints, and furnishings and accessories in lively shades of pink, were layered throughout to create a bright, playful aesthetic. Elsewhere, staircase spindles were painted turquoise to bring out their arts-and-craft design and heighten the abstract wallpaper and striped runner. Wallpaper featuring 60s-era superheroes, metallic butterflies, cartoon bears, and flamingos enliven other rooms of the house. In the kitchen, an orange island adds zest to cream-colored cabinets and brick backsplash. The family’s new home is now their happy home. ------ Project designed by Minneapolis interior design studio LiLu Interiors. Comfortable and Stylish Master bedroom. Thanks to the harmonious contrast of dark and gold tones and blue accents, the bedroom turned out to look very luxurious. Soft panels behind the head of the bed provide coziness needed for the bedroom. Tall sied mirrors turn this bedroom into a bright and elegant space. Those incredible palettes, accents, decor-the the interior merely inimitable.

This kitchen has plenty of over-the-top, traditional details designed in a more current way. This includes framing the decorative tile over the range with giant, scrolled corbels and a coffered ceiling with a pop of color. Decorative wire mesh inserts also add interest and texture to the space.

I had a blast styling my client's fireplace! Working off of the rustic style that already defined my client's home, I brought in accessories in varying materials, textures, and colors. The raw wood candlesticks and wrought iron hurricanes play perfectly with the natural stone fireplace, while the white ceramic bottles give contrast in size and texture to the candlesticks. Lastly, the true focal point is the vibrant butterfly print on handmade paper and framed inside an aged silver frame.

I designed a sophisticated, soothing room for a little girl. The goal was to make it whimsical enough but not so cute she could not grow into it. Notice the use of plants, animals and landscapes as a tool to create a peaceful environment. Large oil paintings evoke dreamy landscapes, the acanthus plant stripe of the grass cloth wallpaper makes one feel surrounded and safe. Birds, elephants and butterflies are part of the magical decor. Lots of texture and patterns create interest. Finally, old is blended with new (antique bird illustrations, old pine chest, modern crib, etc) to create an eclectic and inviting interior.
