The dining room is just beyond the living space. The dining table is minimal in natural wood and is accompanied by grey-upholstered wooden chairs, to visually connect it with the greys and browns of the kitchen, which adjoins the dining area.

The kitchen sports a grey-and-brown colour combination, usually not used in Indian households. Chhabra elaborates, “By adding fluted smoked glass in the cabinets, along with black metal details, we created a beautiful and contemporary-looking kitchen with a lot of storage packed on one wall, while an open counter is given on the right wall to balance the space.”

The parents’ bedroom is the smallest in size. The highlight of the room is a back-lit marble-tiled wall with brass inlays. “The false ceiling panels drop from the ceiling to the wall, creating a frame for highlighting the accent wall and hiding the columns behind it,” explains the designer. This visually increased the span of the room. One side of the room is taken up with a row of wardrobes in a blue-grey tint, which offers lots of storage.

A custom-made dressing-cum-study table creates a picture-perfect corner marked by a faux-fur rug. The blue bureau matches the wardrobes, the cool hue balancing out the warm marble tones of the floor and accent wall.
To the right of the entrance are the other two bedrooms. This room was designed for the grandparents, who wanted a calm yet lively space for their daily activities. Chhabra says, “Elements like wicker and louvres add a sense of nostalgia, while the brass elements reflect the present times.” The earthy green-and-brown palette brings a sense of calm to the space.

A comfortable armchair in mustard sits in the corner with a thoughtfully provided overhead lamp – a perfect spot for some reading. The room shares a balcony with the kid’s next door.

The college-going kid’s room sports sleek lines in furniture and a minimalist palette of white and grey. ”Due to the layout there was not enough space to add wardrobes and storage,” Chhabra says, “thus, we created a unique design where the toilet door was extruded to be a part of the wardrobe, creating an interesting hidden element within the space.” The floating study table and console make the study corner visually light, as it does not take up space on the floor.

The main door opens into the living room, which is designed with a collection of light, moveable furniture – a three-seater upholstered sofa in royal blue, an armchair in monochrome and a padded bench.
The long wall common to the living and dining spaces acts like a canvas. Chhabra explains, “To break this span, a design of moulding that frames marble-texture wall tile was used to create a simple yet impactful entrance area.”
