Complete renovation of 5th floor condominium on the top of Nob Hill. The revised floor plan required a complete demolition of the existing finishes. Careful consideration of the other building residents and the common areas of the building were priorities all through the construction process. This project is most accurately defined as ultra contemporary. Some unique features of the new architecture are the cantilevered glass shelving, the frameless glass/metal doors, and Italian custom cabinetry throughout. Glass railing is used to enhance this project’s indoor space. Clear glass panels highlight a beautiful staircase and a modern aesthetic. Slim side mount posts anchor the railing without obstructing its clear lines, while steel clips hold the glass securely in place. The result is a minimal and sleek stairway.

Situated on a challenging sloped lot, an elegant and modern home was achieved with a focus on warm walnut, stainless steel, glass and concrete. Each floor, named Sand, Sea, Surf and Sky, is connected by a floating walnut staircase and an elevator concealed by walnut paneling in the entrance. The home captures the expansive and serene views of the ocean, with spaces outdoors that incorporate water and fire elements. Ease of maintenance and efficiency was paramount in finishes and systems within the home. Accents of Swarovski crystals illuminate the corridor leading to the master suite and add sparkle to the lighting throughout. A sleek and functional kitchen was achieved featuring black walnut and charcoal gloss millwork, also incorporating a concealed pantry and quartz surfaces. An impressive wine cooler displays bottles horizontally over steel and walnut, spanning from floor to ceiling. Features were integrated that capture the fluid motion of a wave and can be seen in the flexible slate on the contoured fireplace, Modular Arts wall panels, and stainless steel accents. The foyer and outer decks also display this sense of movement. At only 22 feet in width, and 4300 square feet of dramatic finishes, a four car garage that includes additional space for the client's motorcycle, the Wave House was a productive and rewarding collaboration between the client and KBC Developments. This beautifully spacious kitchen was created by first removing an enclosed pantry closet where the microwave area is currently. We then carefully designed work spaces that function for this family who entertains often. The base cabinets are comprised of flat panel Walnut with a bourbon stain and the wall cabinets have white painted Shaker doors. Using light or white wall cabinets enhances the open space plan while dramatizing the darker base cabinets and the appliances. Using the Walnut cabinets on the wall where the range is highlights this area and gives the room depth and gravity. White Caesarstone Blizzard counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and white backsplash were used to enhance overall contrast. Light brown subway tile complements this open floor plan. this 1200 sqft 3 storey condo in vancouver was in need of cohesiveness, openess, light flow and a general overhaul. mango design co re-spaced as much as the concrete structure would allow. we defined the entry, revamped the kitchen, opened the stair railing, created an open den and created built-in cabinetry throughout. charcoal grey tile was laid throughout the space to survive two big beautiful dogs. fir doors & bamboo millwork bring nature & silvery grey walls soften the space. mango carefully selected new furniture, lighting and rugs from: designhouse.ca (bludot, pelican, custom pieces) fullhouseconsign.com interface FLOR.com general contracting by inspiredrenovations.ca photography by eric saczuk of spacehoggraphics.com

When man's aspiration is the sky, the ground is only a resistance. - Sverre Fehn In this renovation, a conventional masonry row house is opened up to the sky, with a light, airy interior. The original floor plan was completely transformed for more efficient function and a greater sense of spatial connection, both vertically and horizontally. From a grounded lower level, with concrete, cork, and warm finishes, an abstract composition of crisp forms emerges. The kitchen sits at the center of the house as a hearth, establishing the line between dark and light, illustrated through wenge base cabinets with light anigre above. Service spaces such as bathrooms and closets are hidden within the thickness of walls, contributing to the overall simplicity of the design. A new central staircase serves as the backbone of the composition, bordered by a cable wall tensioned top and bottom, connecting the solid base of the house with the light steel structure above. A glass roof hovers overhead, as gravity recedes and walls seem to rise up and float. The overall effect is clean and minimal, transforming vertically from dark to light, warm to cool, grounded to weightless, and culminating in a space composed of line and plane, shadows and light.
