Gary Winter Design A small area at the front of the planter boxes means easy access to the produce planted into them. Ground cover keeps the weeds at bay and the lawn connects with the steps to the patio.

Each unit of this 5 unit condominium has deeded rights to landscape their own small space. Our clients turned to us for help maximizing and upgrading their allotted outdoor turf. Our design eliminates an awkwardly elevated deck and small sunken patio, replaced with a simple patio. The raised level and curved front create a strong overlook of the dock and Lake Champlain. The robust dimensions of the capstone create a strong edge between the architectural patio and the natural plantings and distant views. Stone stairs lead into the house as well as toward the dock and perimeter landscaping. Shade tolerant perennials and groundcovers adorn the beds created by the sloping landscape. Olympic Lawn - Kansas City Landscaping - Landscape Curbing & Edging

The concept by NY landscape architect of informal penthouse garden deck that a few friends getting together at a Hamptons beach cottage with a few beers, building a deck, plywood planters and indigenous plantings was built by New York Plantings Garden Designers and Landscape contractors NYC. This Greenroof fusion rooftop deck and garden combine the traditional planters typical of any roof or terrace garden with a green roof style real sod lawn in the center. This Brooklyn roof garden utilizing environmentally responsible materials such as custom milled black locust decking from nearby Long Island. This user friendly, low maintenance green space provides a perfect get away from the busy streets below. The carpentry design is rugged and tidy with concrete roof tiles to create a very nice effect and contrast different areas. The main feature being a small hillock in the center of the space is a great place to gather on the lawn with friends and family. The homeowner plans to watch movies projected on the side of the building while lounging on her private lawn late at night high above the city.

The existing brick wall created a beautiful back drop for the lionhead fountain. Raised Credit Valley wall extends over the the pool and stairs. We can see the beginning of the impressive Beech hedge on the left and the Yew hedge on the right. A small plant bed in front of the wall allows for some seasonal colour without detracting from the beauty of the Credit Valley ledgerock walls.

The same view as the preceding "Before" shot from the corner of the garage looking across the yard. The lawn was replaced with connected patio spaces with trees floating in the center of the yard, not just around the perimeter. This planting scheme provides for greater privacy and directs views toward intentional focal points.

High shade provides a perfect environment for Alum Root in this Novato front yard. Its frothy blooms charm visitors in spring and early summer. This is a really good plant to put under California Live Oaks as they need very little summer water. Far tougher than it looks, and easy maintenance. Cathy Edger, Edger Landscape Design

Two years in the making this landscape creates a private space filled with formal gardens and ornaments. From the multilevel front entry beds, to the gardens surrounding the lawn, to the stunning rear design, the entire space is incredible. The rear terrace features a pool, outdoor kitchen, 3 levels separated by stone walls and stairs, a distant terrace at the top of a bluff that offers an unobstructed lake view, and pergola that highlights a stone statue.
