This 350 square-foot vacation home annex accommodates a kitchen, sleeping/living room and full bath. The simple geometry of the structure allows for minimal detailing and excellent economy of construction costs. The interior is clad with reclaimed pine and the kitchen is finished with polished stainless steel for ease of maintenance.

The home is broken into three distinct pieces–an entry/stair tower, a main living box and a guest wing. The effect is a series of smaller volumes that reduce the scale of this 3294 square foot home, decrease the impact on the densely forested site and create a sense of discovery with each unfolding turn of the floor plan.

Gardens by Gabriel, Inc.
Peek through papyrus and verbena bonariensis at this natural stone fire ring and the Mediterranean planting that surrounds it. Bordered by oak-covered hillsides and a nearby stream, we worked to blend this landscape into its natural surroundings. Garden co-designed by Gabriel Frank and Nick Wilkinson of Grow Nursery in Cambria, CA.
