The clients of this Highgate Garden contacted London Garden Designer in Dec 2011, after seeing some of my work in House and Garden Magazine. They had recently moved into the house and were keen to have the garden ready for summer. The brief was fairly open, although one specific request was for a Garden Lodge to be used as a Gym and art room. This was something that would require planning permission so I set this in motion whilst I got on with designing the rest of the garden. The ground floor of the house opened out onto a deck that was one metre from the lawn level, and felt quite exposed to the surrounding neighbours. The garden also sloped across its width by about 1.5 m, so I needed to incorporate this into the design.

Scott Buley HTT&T, High Tech Turf & Trees. Rain Garden drainage-way seeps through this NatuRpavR(sm) MicroScapeR(sm). Does a great job of keeping this Rain Garden draining. It's not everyday that we're asked to save a home from a Dragon. This home had a Serpentining Weeping Giant Sequoia "climbing" over it. And our client Loved this tree, as we grew too as well. To "share" their limited outdoor space with it, we designed and built a Garden Pergola beneath it. To save it's wet feet, we re-built the drainage system it stood in, naturalizing the site with our NaturPavR(sm) Xeripaver pervious pavers. Here we retained just enough moisture in "Puff's" new Rain Garden, by creating a new stream bed for it to inhabit. Everyone co-existed happily ever after in their shared Outdoor Entertainment area. All of this made for a very happy fairy-tale ending.

Recently installed cairn at the Cliffs of Glassy. There are 3 of these rock formations in the residents side meditation garden. In modern times, cairns are often erected as landmarks, a use they have had since ancient times. Since prehistory, they have also been built as sepulchral monuments, or used for defensive, hunting, ceremonial, astronomical and other purposes.

This client's home backs up to a beautiful native Beech and Tulip woodland with an intermittent stream running through the middle of the site. After mistakenly over-clearing the natural forest saplings, the once lush woods was now bare. Called in to help re-vegetate the woodland, we designed and created a new path network through the woodland so that the client could enjoy and experience their new garden. Planted with large masses of native perennials, shade grasses and spring bulbs this back yard is now lush once again.
