A great way to brighten up a bedroom is with painted nightstands. In this case, we wanted to maintain a calming environment with neutral wall colors and bedding. To add a bit of cheer to the space, we upholstered two lounge chairs and painted both nightstands similar shaded of aqua. Martha O'Hara Interiors, Interior Design | L. In this combination living room/ family room, form vs function is at it's best.. Formal enough to host a cocktail party, and comfortable enough to host a football game. The wrap around sectional accommodates 5-6 people and the oversized ottoman has room enough for everyone to put their feet up! The high back, stylized wing chair offers comfort and a lamp for reading. Decorative accessories are placed in the custom built bookcases freeing table top space for drinks, books, etc. Magazines and current reading are neatly placed in the rattan tray for easy access. The overall neutral color palette is punctuated by soft shades of blue around the room.

A master bedroom with an ocean inspired, upscale hotel atmosphere. The soft blues, creams and dark woods give the impression of luxury and calm. Soft sheers on a rustic iron rod hang over woven grass shades and gently filter light into the room. Rich painted wood panel molding helps to anchor the space. A reading area adorns the bay window and the antique tray table offers a worn nautical motif. Brass fixtures and the rough hewn dresser remind one of the sea. Artwork and accessories also lend a coastal feeling.

Light gray walls provide a neutral backdrop for this traditional dining room’s inventive use of color. Floral draperies in shades of navy, turquoise and robin’s egg blue are accented by a navy band and hang from gold metal rods with clear glass finials. The light grey ceiling is adorned with a hand-painted design in two-toned metallic gold. A corner cabinet has been given a fresh coat of white paint to match the trim, while the interior is painted aqua showcasing the blue and white porcelain and antiqued mirror accessories adorning the shelves.
This elegant space is a study in blues, from the wool rug bearing a floral pattern in shades of light blue, baby blue and navy to the lacquered dining chairs, which have been upholstered in a modern tone-on-tone geometric velvet along with a navy chenille and accented with black nickel nails. The dining table is stained deep espresso and given a high gloss finish. Gold metallic accents on the table provide a touch of glam befitting the crown jewel of the room - a chandelier of clear glass orbs dangling from a gold frame. A pot at the center of the table is filled with purple hydrangeas and greenery adding another lush layer to the decadent design.

DESIGN NEW ENGLAND magazine described Boston designer Lisa K. Tharp's Coastal Loft interiors - where Beach meets SoHo - as living like "an art gallery by the sea". First, Tharp layered in architectural details, including custom cabinetry and a window seat to frame the view. Linen draperies reinforce 10' ceilings, while silk roman shades soften the triple window. Slipcovered sofa and rattan chairs anchor the seating area. Reclaimed teak low table acts as foundation for old french chimney piece that Lisa discovered in an antique shop. Driftwood quatrefoil side tables host glazed and linen lamps. Lisa repurposed a vintage glass pie display as unique side table and gave Teri Malo's "Poem for a Nauset Afternoon" oil painting pride of place over the sofa. Photo by Eric Roth.

Master bedroom with oversized fan and iron canopy bed. White cotton linens, blue and white wool rug, linen upholstered bench and sheer drapery. Nightstands are substituted by large chests with oversized lamps which work well with the oversized scale of the bed and drapery.
