The house is composed of four levels: a basement, a ground floor, a first floor and a second floor.
The front door opens into a foyer, which, in turn, leads into the living room. The palette here is hushed, with cream, beige, grey and wood tones dominating the aesthetic.

“The living area is furnished with lavish velvet sofas, loungers and armchairs that inspire a luxurious air. Elaborate panelling on the walls adds richness and texture to the environment. Our design philosophy is to create minimal, laidback luxury with neutral palettes, rich textures, tonal variations and diverse geometric forms,” explains Chawla.

The dining room is an organic extension of the living area, zoned by its location in a double-height atrium. Sweeping floor-to-ceiling windows provide views of the garden beyond. The floor, cast in marble, features a central stone inlay.
“We worked with light, neutral shades to achieve a calming environment. We added colours through upholstery, paintings, wallpapers and accent pieces,” Chawla says.

The kitchen has a light-as-air quality, thanks to the cream-and-driftwood-toned cabinetry. Brown marble flooring underpins the galley layout.
Beige and grey present a restful vibe in the ground floor bedroom. Colour is scarce here, save for the artworks that adorn the walls.
“The bedrooms are sanctuaries of comfort and luxury, with fully padded beds and headboards and spacious walk-in closets. They are elegant, yet minimal,” says Chawla.

Chawla turned part of the basement into a plush entertainment den with a black marble floor, gilded embellishments and soft lighting.
There are two main seating areas here, both thematically connected by emerald-toned upholstery and sable-and-gold wall panelling. The smaller seating area, pictured here, is overarched by a double-height ceiling.

The basement also has a bedroom.
Ivory-toned marble walls, an island-style tub, rich wooden cladding and his-and-hers sinks define the spacious ensuite bathroom.
The first floor houses a family lounge and two bedrooms. The lounge is dominated by deep-plum upholstery, while walls of dove grey provide a mellow backdrop. “One can see the double-height dining room through the giant window on one wall,” says Chawla.
Timber and grey create a relaxing ambience in the first-floor bedroom. A wood-toned panel backdrops the bed, serving to demarcate the slumber zone from the walk-in wardrobe beyond.
A white marble quarter-landing staircase cuts an angular presence as it rises upwards (as seen here from the second floor).

The staircase rises to a lounge on the second floor, where a palette of cream, grey and timber nods to the floors below.
A marble-clad puja room, encaged by a trellis shell, occupies one corner of the lounge.
The master bedroom, also situated on the second floor, is minimally outfitted.
The timber panel behind the bed, the neutral furnishings and the minimalist artworks are subdued, while a yellow armchair and footrest inject a pop of colour into the space.

The seating area is backgrounded by gleaming marble panels that provide a visual distinction from the rest of the room.
A rear garden abuts the back of the home.

“The house is designed to interact freely with its environment through open-to-sky gardens, landscaped courtyards, immaculately manicured lawns and ingressed green bodies. We employed a sustainable architecture paradigm that leverages technologies, products and techniques to reduce water and energy consumption with zero resource wastage,” says Chawla.
