Hi Maam/Sir, I would recommend you to share a better perspective pic of your room where the ceiling is also visible because if a room does not have enough of natural lighting then some artificial effect like a false ceiling treatment would really give a great boost to the look and feel of your space. I would also suggest you to follow a concept like i can see there are a lot of varied colorscheme happening in your room so changing a curtain will not be much help. You should find the right patterns maybe like adding some pastels or i can see that some red or maroon color is involved in your room so try to match the lighter version of these elements. Hi priya, Its good to see your participation in the professional industry, we all have the realization one day or another that college didn't teach us anything, the real thing to ask is that what have we taught ourself in the first place. how many books have we read from our own college library, how many thesis reports have we gone through, how many art/science/construction/interior exhibitions have we attended. how many sketches have we drawn in 365 days. my advice towards first step of learning would be scanning (with your eyes of course) your office library (reference books, materials,samples, models, catalogs etc) I promise you, you will be amazed to know that you are sitting in a knowledge hotspot.

@Rock Doc: Are you addressing this to me? I haven't actually bought these tiles yet - when I do, I will definitely be going for the handmade ones. They're a work of art and irreplaceable in my opinion. However, there are also screen-printed tiles available in the market in more or less the same patterns; the workmanship is of course different, but you get them cheaper, and they're also more easily available. You could give that a shot. I'd recommend Aakaar Flooring Solutions - they're here on Houzz and are able to provide both the above-mentioned types.

You need to address the problem at the source of the dampness. This is most important. And it will work out to be comparatively inexpensive as it will eliminate the need for tiles and repainting from time to time. Rest of the solutions are only temporary and decorative in nature as the source problem will be of a continuing nature damaging the structure in the long run. Tiles have their own place and do not look good in all places. Once this leakage problem is addressed, ₹ 3-5 Lacs seems to be a very good budget to take care of all internal and external painting needs.
