wont a darker grey on the other wall make the room darker?

Just change cushion covers, like add accent cushion in some bright orange, mustard or sea blue / green color and matching curtain.

The room has too much grey. I would change the lamp to something in glass/crystal with a large off white shade. Add a large rug that will unify the sofas; you can choose a light patterned rug. I would also change the curtains and add some color accents there in either coral or aqua that would go with the grey. Hope this helps.

I would recommend you to share a better perspective pic of your room where the ceiling is also visible because if a room does not have enough of natural lighting then some artificial effect like a false ceiling treatment would really give a great boost to the look and feel of your space. I would also suggest you to follow a concept like i can see there are a lot of varied colorscheme happening in your room so changing a curtain will not be much help. You should find the right patterns maybe like adding some pastels or i can see that some red or maroon color is involved in your room so try to match the lighter version of these elements. Also adding some wall treatments will give a good vibe in this room.

You could use 1/2 colors from the painting ( and curtains ) in your cushions and other decor accents to tie it in together. I am not sure the painting has red or a lot of red so that lamp and rug can go elsewhere. Get a neutral rug with patterns or spots of the accent colors from your painting. The rug needs to at least be under the front legs of the sofa if not all. You can search on Houzz and get the standard placement and size of rugs in living area.

X Hi Abira ! You could change the wall behind the small sofa to a sunny yellow.

The cushions could be yellow and white . The beige curtain is looking bit dull. You could go for a floral curtain . And yes a big floor lamp instead of the small red one. Cheers !

Grey, rose gold and gold is a great combination for interiors. you can change the curtains to a pale rose gold colour and add some gold elements like golden floor lamps, fan etc. this will give some brightness to the room but it won't be enough, you have to light up your room using ceiling lights. don't forget to remove those red rug and shade lamp instead, use a light rose rug and a gold shade for the lamp.
