Raj - What you say is true that a lot of interior design's margin is in furniture. I will not sugar coat it. And many designers may seem to be more interested in that when you bring them in. But I have had several clients call me over the years saying they are building a new home and would like to consult primarily on layout. When you speak to someone is tell them you are not ready to order furnishings or window treatments, but that you would like a contract that focuses on layout, planning, and interior detailing (i.e. doors, trims, floors) - i.e. the bones of the house. What I would suggest is when you call for a designer, you be prepared to pay a good consultation fee. A good rule of thumb is that you can expect to pay between $3-$10 per square foot of your home depending on the area of your country and the expertise/experience of the designer. If you are not averse to paying this type of fee, and communicate to the designer that your interest is in getting the best solutions, not in purchasing furniture at this time, I'm sure you will be able to get the level of service you desire. If someone you talk to doesn't seem thrilled to provide this kind of service, move on to the next person. Don't rely on "fame" or how well known someone is. They may be well known for doing show houses or just because they've been in the field the longest in your area. Not because they're the right fit for you. You could also check the Houzz directory for good designers in your area. The difficulty is that there are often decorators whose expertise and focus is really just on furnishings not so much on construction - and they serve a purpose for their clients. But there are other designers who provide more of a wholistic approach and have more familiarity with building a new home. These are the people you should seek out. Houzz is a fantastic community - and as I said you may get good advice here but there's really no replacement for someone to work with you in person. You have all the reasons to redo the house, its very lifeless and looks worn out. I feel creating a separation will terminate the spaciousness of the room. Adding colours will surely help, Since you have a tan color sofa,I suggest grey, white or light blue color on one of the walls. Add some art works of the color you chose for the wall. This room needs some fillers like , books, throws, candle stands tall and lean. YES DON FORGET 1. Mount the tv on the wall make some space on the floor and Fix a large size mirror ( Wooden Frame if you can afford).

A houzz contributor, not too long ago, had made a wine rack out of 4'x4' wooden pallets, that are used in the US to move a load of goods with a fork-lift truck. Perhaps they have them in your country. He cut them in half so they were only two feet deep and stacked them up to high counter height. Center the bed between wall sconces. You have many, many beds in your ideabook that will be a great inspiration for dressing the beds. You need king size pillows, 2 or 4 depending on how much you are spending on redecorating a hotel. How many rooms will you be updating? I would get a nice natural fiber woven waste paper basket to put the plastic one into. I would get a more comfortable desk chair, and definitely more substantial curtains in a neutral color. Are there supposed to be drawers in the bottom of that armoire? If there isn't, I would add runners and drawers to it for storage. Perhaps slide the desk/armoire down towards the power/Internet/cable access. Sheets, crisp white, light color neutral blanket, between two flat sheets, neutral coverlet over that. If needed, a duvet in a white, bleachable duvet cover. For color a dark or bright bed scarf that spans the end of bed, nothing too wide. Piece of art over bed that reflects the locale or nearby sightseeing spots, or an abstract that references the color of bed scarf. If doing a floor covering, keep it neutral and easy to clean. Not sure what color walls are, but they could do with some brightening, a nice bright ivory color would still be warm and welcoming, but would add light to a dim room.
