i needed ideas for false ceiling for better lighting in my living room and master bedroom.

the ceiling height is 8.5 feet.

the living room is L shaped with attached dining area. i have attached photos of the same.

the master bedroom has a wardrobe right up to the existing ceiling. attached photos of that too.

any ideas how to fit a false ceiling aesthetically without renovating much furniture??

Hi, go for gypsum plain falseceiling with proper light arrangements. Pl ask your falseceiling person not to drop it more than 5 in from roof.

I was going to suggest the same thing as InspiredHome. Fix the false ceiling no more than 6 inches from the true ceiling. However you would have to drop the height of your wardrobe loft shutters, otherwise you will not be able to open them once the ceiling in place.. You can leave the carcass as it is, but replace the the shutters with a fixed panel from ceiling to about 8 inches below, and smaller shutters in the remaining space. The false ceiling can stop at the fixed panel above. That way you will not lose loft space

Hi Mohit, As you rightly said that in Indian climate best is stone (Marbles, granite, sandstone etc.. ) or tiles. Before suggesting you something I would like o know your location in India and would analyse your lifestyle. While Marble seems to be an obvious choice for many its not the best material always. It is also expensive and needs high maintenance and not a sustainable material. All materials have their pros and cons. Its true wood does not essentially work in most of the climates in India however I must make you aware that there are very nice wood looking tiles available. You can consider using cove lighting within your false ceiling in case you are looking for bright lighting option. Another option for you is to use panel light embedded into your false ceiling. This way you will be in control of the brightness that panel lights bring to a room. Cove lighting is best for your living and dining areas where the look of your false ceiling is also impacted by such lights.

Best thing to do is adopt minimalism!

Plain ceiling with perfect luminous and angular lighting fixtures which can drop a lighting on your wall so that whole living room will become ambient and gloomy!

Apart from that try to minimise your furniture in living room!
