There is contrast between the traditional furniture and the focal point of the floor which pops, draws attention. I would recover the sofas in cream colored soft fabric - suede. I would leave the curtains grey, and put down a large neutral area rug. The edges of the room would show the pattern of the floor. I would color the wall and add texture to it, but not too dark as the room will appear smaller. Add a picture and put a nice plant holder, large vase in the left corner of the room - an oriental-style vase. Or, a cream-stripe fabric on the sofas. You could go soft or bold in this room - depending on your taste.

HI RinaI do agree I love jewelbox rooms, but I consider them more cosy ... and with a grey marble floor it goes all Versace Italianate! I am trying to balance the colours by bringing in a pattern on the covers rather than plain. I feel this will bring colour without overpowering the room. In the pictures I showed above, the rooms are basically neutral but the colour is brought in via pattern - I think this might be the way to go...Ideally a green or blue on a subdued grey would be the best, but I dont know what the market is like for Sumit...Cushions can do a lot to tie in the other white/grey elements.Shelley - navy is a good suggestion, but as Sumits area is quite tall and thin, trying to keep the general area light Any more suggestions most welcome. These are just ideas after all and Sumit will choose what works for the room in the end ;-)

Hello there, You have chosen a beautiful shade of yellow for an accent wall. You could install some decor on that wall carrying white/ neutral accents. Second, the curtains needs to be replaced with white/beige blinds or you could install white printed curtains from 2-3' above window sill till floor to create an illusion of space. Third, sofa set could be accented with cobalt blue, emerald green, fuchsia pink, ivory whites, mint etc. to create a sophisticated yet relaxing ambience. Fourth, cushions could be contrasted with colors same as the wall. Graphical and geometric patterns are recommended. Fifth, being most important, upgrade your lighting from led bulbs to 20W led tubelights. They will cover a larger area. Hey Aleen, It is rather dark but it looks really pretty. Until you redo the kitchen, here are a few suggestions! Paint the lower cabinets white since they are sandwiched between two dark surfaces Paint the upper ones a beautiful pastel sage (I love you colour options BTW, the mushroom and sage sound blissful) and mushroom grey (really really REALLY light) on the walls You can lay down a light coloured and thin outdoor rug on the floor to make the space lighter add plants to liven up the space (could be faux!) Lastly, the little sliver of the wall on the left is a bit of an eyesore. Try painting it over (black or sage green) and if it doesn't look nice (I have my doubts) then hang something there, like a faux plant, or some other kitchen decor item.
