Comments (4)Thanks Cornerstone. I was actually looking forward for your response as you guys are quite regular on the discussions. Coming back, the kitchen adjoining the open to sky area is actually being used as a storeroom. For your reply 1) As I mentioned the existing drawing room serves dual purpose of living and drawing which becomes very messy and nigh impossible to keep clean for suprise visitors. also coz of the open area , the rooms are prone to mosquitoes and flies. Coming back to my question I would like to know budget friendly solution for covering the open area. ( I did consider opting for a skylight but the cost was off the charts) 2) Wardrobe and door Now that the drawing will be freed up, I don't see any use of the wardrobe in the new plan. I don't have any clarity of ideas for the rear dining area as to how deal with the very dark wardrobe( which I'm open to remodel it for another purpose) and the door that leads to the open area. 4) Thanks for the advise on the L shape sofa but my concern remains on the no. of seats would not be sufficient. Also would the L shape look better on the long wall or the wall with the passage door. 6) One more thing that bothers me is the yellow check pattern on the floor. How do I make the furniture, in terms of Color, complement the floor. Thanks again for your reply. Cheers...See Moreredo my sofa and the living room in victorian style
Comments (2)Hi Geeta, Victorian theme is all about grandeur and elegance. Here are a few key design elements that would help you achieve the perfect look - 1] Pastel Walls and/or damask wallpapers are characteristic. 2] Wall Panelings for a two tone wall (as in the above picture) or as a pattern on the wall add character. 3] Large sized mirrors on walls work wonders. 4] Upholstery in rich fabrics and pastel colours also contribute immensely. You can also go for red or violet fabrics for a chair or two to add drama. And yeah, lost of cushions! 5] Mixed bag of furniture/ non modular furniture with white and golden polish for arms and legs. Polished teak also works well. 6] Decor items like figurines, vases, bracket lights and crystal chandeliers collected from second hand or antique shops. These days even well known home decor brands keep antique items. 7] Floor length american pleat curtains frame the openings and add layers to the walls. 8] Wooden flooring topped with carpets give the space a cozy feel. Tip: If you have space and a budget, do add a fireplace with a mantel. It will add an old world charm to the space. Hope these ideas inspire you. All the best! Comments (9)I have a few suggestions. Hope these will help. Go for a wooden sofa set. I know many people nowadays tend to go for fabric sofa sets and sectionals, but i fee that wooden sofas never go out of style. Also, you can change the upholstery colour any time if you want a more colourful look or a colourful slip cover (you can get a local uphostery guy to custom stitch one) which can be washed easily. Go for sleek furnitures that are not heavy. You can also add a few accent furniture pieces like an accent chair if the space allows for it. There are couple of things to note when you bring in colour. Choose one primary colour and maximum two secondary colours. See these links to [pep up your space[(https://www.houzz.in/magazine/is-your-living-room-too-brown-here-are-8-ways-to-pep-it-up-stsetivw-vs~101141558) and liven it. After you choose your colours, pick your decor. Add dashes of these colours through cushions, vases, flowers, paintings, figurines, curtains, carpets and other decor pieces. If you have a favourite painting, pick your accent colours from them. Or if you like the colours in a particular cushion covers, the other pieces can be colour matched. Always hang your paintings at eye level. I noticed that your hang your frames quite high up. Place them around 57 - 60 inches from the floor. Hope I could help...See MoreKuka Furniture Bunbury
