Help! Small kitchen layout
Comments (8)An 8'x8' kitchen is a classic deadend galley style kitchen. Option A is to locate the refrigerator adjacent to the center doorway, stove with exhaust hood in the middle of the dead end end wall, sink in the center of the wall opposite the refrigerator. LOGIC: Classic triangular work relationship, plenty of counter workspace, easy access to refrigerator for others without interfering with someone cooking at the stove, space on each side of the sink for a dishrack. Option B really can't beat Option A unless your building's plumbing wall dictates other locations for your sink and stove. Is there a window in the kitchen? This can also have impact on the layout....See Moremodern look to antique furniture
Comments (15)The Green Antiques Idea book "Decorating with Chinese Antiques - Design the Ultimate Beach House" has some creative ideas about how to achieve a fabulous East meets West design which gels modern design with the inclusion of numerous antiques (some even painted bright colors as suggested by Blawnox Upholstery above!). http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/29094412/list/Decorating-with-Chinese-Antiques---Design-the-Ultimate-Beach-House This might not be the style which you are seeking, but similar mix and match old and new concepts can also be applied to many other style homes - see for example photo's from the Dream House project (a 7,000 sq.ft. Frank Lloyd Wright inspired prairie house which from the outside looks much like the world famous Robbie house). Completely different from the beach house example above, but nevertheless merging the old and the new in interesting ways. http://www.houzz.com/projects/594005...See MorePeacock Teal dining
Comments (31)Dear Crazyjunglite, please let me add some ideas for your space. I beleive that a nice combination of two curtains like the one with the blue and peach double curtains in the picture, will give you an eclectic feeling that matches to your painting. The combination of colors that I suggest is this blue with brown flares and the cream-peach taffetas, and the soft cream sheer behind. It will join all the rest beautiful items suggested by now: https://www.etsy.com/listing/163787105/blue-curtain-polyester-fabric-122-inches?ref=shop_home_active https://www.etsy.com/listing/163785041/light-yellow-beige-curtain-polyester?ref=related-6 https://www.etsy.com/listing/167660815/35-discount-for-one-pair-of-two-beige?ref=listing-shop-header-1 https://www.etsy.com/listing/167363693/ecru-sheer-curtains-fabric-118-inches?ref=shop_home_active...See MoreNeed advice on kitchen design
Comments (19)Going with professional has its own advantages. Afterall he is pro, so he has studied more and has more experience. However is this person from the kitchen shoppee, which is giving you quotation of kitchen installation? In such cases, I have experienced that they just make boxy kitchens where they add lotsa fittings, that increases your budget. Open shelves does not need such fittings, so such are omitted...Normal door wali cabinets are less and number of drawers increased. Going on own is not a bad idea, provided you need to study it well. Note down the requirements, classify work areas and so on... In this approach , you have to go bit slower and carefully. Allow some flexibility in design, so that in future , you can alter as per the need. Sometimes we come to know the problems after few months/ years and we cant change it later. Ultimately compare between [your time+ efforts+ study+ error chances] Vs Hiring professional and go ahead accordingly....See MoreDaisy England
