Hi Shilpa, Scandinavian design is a beautiful and versatile design genre. A few things you need to keep in mind which is key to Scandinavian design is light and ventilation - so have large windows with no/ minimal grills. The warmth of the room comes from natural wood elements, hence if you do not have wooden flooring have some amount of distressed or old wood in the room in terms of side tables or wall hangings. Maintenance will be a key issue if you have all white walls and furniture , so remember to suit it more to the climatic conditions of where you are situated , so if in a city next to a busy dusty road, you might have to upkeep the room on a daily basis. What a beautiful house, Shahbaaz! I live in a similar house - a 150-year-old colonial bungalow in Kumaon. You have already received lots of excellent advice from better-qualified people, so all I would say is, keep its age and heritage character the central theme. The white tiles do clash, I am afraid ... flooring with terracotta tiles would echo the roof and look lovely. The columns and the arches over the doors and windows are amazing. But I'd say, leave it all chuna-painted - there's a beauty and softness to it. Don't let the painters add too much neel (indigo) in the limewash -- in the hills where I live, they put far too much if I don't watch out and the result is a harsh white. Natural lime has a softer, creamy look.

Jaisalmer is a beautiful flooring. Its not too yellow. More of an ochre/amber colour. Looks rich and warm and doesn't have the cold impersonal appearance of white marble. It is also dark veined, so it is a very personal choice. The larger the slabs, the better for you. I've used 4'-0" x 5'-0". Even 3'-0" x 4'-0" is okay. But it is very important to get references for proper stone layers and polish guys from the supplier. You can really get stuck if you don't get the right people. And yes, it would look stunning with red open brick walls and traditional furniture
