Please forgive my comments if they are not applicable as it is difficult to read the plans from my computer and I am unable to enlarge them. I live in America so I recognize the difference in cultures but just a few things you may want to consider: The kitchen appears to have windows that have a view to nothing significant, whereas if it was on the opposite side of the house, the views would be of the lovely garden. Also, the kitchen appears a distance from the garage, where the grocery/shopping items would be carried in from. I believe a better location would be somewhere closer to the garage with easier access to transport items. Another consideration is the idea we call a "Great Room"--whereby the kitchen is open & next to the living room. This is a beautiful layout conducive to ongoing conversation with guests & family members alike and much prefered to cooking in a room alone, separated from loved ones. Since the house is multiple levels, I would recommend placing the laundry room (washer/dryer) on the level with the most bedrooms. This allows for ease of accessibility vs. up/down multiple stairs to transport dirty/clean clothes. Best wishes to you! I think you are wise in soliciting suggestions/input now as there are many changes I still wish I would have made. :)

There is contrast between the traditional furniture and the focal point of the floor which pops, draws attention. I would recover the sofas in cream colored soft fabric - suede. I would leave the curtains grey, and put down a large neutral area rug. The edges of the room would show the pattern of the floor. I would color the wall and add texture to it, but not too dark as the room will appear smaller. Add a picture and put a nice plant holder, large vase in the left corner of the room - an oriental-style vase. Or, a cream-stripe fabric on the sofas. You could go soft or bold in this room - depending on your taste.

you are thinking about the space right now. it looks odd, no doubt. 1) when you fill in with the furniture, just make sure the three steps are hidden. 2) consider three potted plants of different height, so the rectangle is complete. 3) glass bowl with Siamese fighting fish for each step 4) figurines of different heights 5) 2inch square wooden bar on each step up to the top of the rectangle. and complete the entire rectangle if you want with a smaller rectangle open in the center my suggestion is, there is a reason why this space ended up like this. it will look great once you put something there. things like these are what make your house unique.

I would consider putting cabinets on the short wall where the utility wall is. Have your stove there centered on the area. Move the sink so it is centered on the long wall where the cooktop is now. Put the fridge on the end run of cabinets closest to the dining table. That will give you an L shape kitchen with a nice work triangle. If you have your heart set on an island remove all the wall cabinets and install a large island. This is not the style of your kitchen but it does show the layout I described above. L shape cabinetry with stove on short end, sink in the middle with DW to right of sink with cabinet above it for dish storage and the refridgerator on the end run so it is out of work triangle and conveniet to the dining area for serving or work triangle for prep and cooking. Island can be any style you desire. L shape with island and open across from island; you might consider this layout if you desire an island. Something like this?
