This lovely breakfast room, overlooking the garden, is an inviting place to start your day lingering over Sunday morning coffee. I had the walls painted in a soft coral, contrasting with various wood tones in the armoire, table and shades. It is all tied together by keeping the chair covers and rug light in color. The crystal chandelier is an unexpected element in a breakfast room, yet, your not compelled to pull out the china and silver.

Two different accent tiles make a statement and add a pop of color against the large white wall tiles in the custom shower. Frameless glass creates a custom and modern feel to the space. This small powder bath lacked interest and was quite dark despite having a window. We added white horizontal tongue & groove on the lower portion of the room with a warm graphic wallpaper above. A custom white cabinet with a waterfall grey and white granite counter gave the vanity some personality. New crown molding, window casings, taller baseboards and white wood blinds made impact to the small room. We also installed a modern pendant light and a rustic oval mirror which adds character to the space. BEFORE Though this bathroom had a good layout, everything was just really outdated. We added tile from floor to ceiling for a spa like feel. We kept the color palette neutral and timeless. The dark cheery cabinet was elegantly finished with crystal knobs and a cararra marble countertop. AFTER AFTER BEFORE There was an underutilized corner between the vanity and the shower that was basically wasted space. To give the corner a purpose, we added a make-up vanity in white with a custom made stool. Oversized subway tiles were added to the shower, along with a rain shower head, for a clean and timeless look. We also added a new frosted glass door to the walk-in closet to let the light in. BEFORE These beautiful oval pivot mirrors are not only functional but also showcase the cararra marble on the wall. Unique glass pendants are a dramatic addition to the space as is the ikat wallpaper in the WC. To finish out the vanity space we added a shallow white upper cabinet for additional storage. BEFORE AFTER AFTER The best part of this remodel? Tearing out the awful, dated carpet! We chose porcelain tile with the look of hardwoods for a more functional and modern space. On the site of an old family summer cottage, nestled on a lake in upstate New York, rests this newly constructed year round residence. The house is designed for two, yet provides plenty of space for adult children and grandchildren to come and visit. The serenity of the lake is captured with an open floor plan, anchored by fireplaces to cozy up to. 2014 ASID Design Awards - Winner Silver Residential, Small Firm - Singular Space Renovation of the husbands study. The client asked for a clam color and look that would make her husband feel good when spending time in his study/ home office. Starting with the main focal point wall, the Hunt Solcum art piece was to remain. The space plan options showed the clients that the way the room had been laid out was not the best use of the space and the old furnishings were large in scale, but outdated in look. For a calm look we went from a red interior to a gray, from plaid silk draperies to custom fabric. Each piece in the room was made to fit the scale f the room and the client, who is 6'4". The soft green opalescent tile in the shower and on the floor creates a subtle tactile geometry, in harmony with the matte white paint used on the wall and ceiling; semi gloss is used on the trim for additional subtle contrast. The sink has clean simple lines while providing much-needed accessible storage space. A clear frameless shower enclosure allows unobstructed views of the space.

This modern kitchen and dining area with windows as walls, needed privacy and light control. vertical blinds were used to achieve clean lines, color coordination, and cost control. Fabric vertical blinds are an attractive update to a product that has fallen way out of favor with many people. Many current applications are in commercial spaces, however they are applications such as this where they can be used effectively. They are a flexible cost effective way to cover large spaces. Available in a wide variety of designer colors it is easy to find a coordinating color for any decor.

Quantum Classic Series windows, and Lift & Slide and Hinged doors are spectacularly displayed here in Sapele wood. Generously opening up the lake view are architectural window walls with transoms and out-swing awnings. The windows’ precise horizontal alignment around the perimeter of the home achieves the architect’s desire for crisp, clean lines. The main entry features a Hinged door flanked by fixed sidelites. Leading out to the Japanese-style garden is another Hinged door set within a common mullion window wall.
