Traditional kitchen with painted white cabinets, a large kitchen island with room for 3 barstools, built in bench for the breakfast nook and desk with cork bulletin board.

The existing quirky floor plan of this 17 year old kitchen created 4 work areas and left no room for a proper laundry and utility room. We actually made this kitchen smaller to make it function better. We took the cramped u-shaped area that housed the stove and refrigerator and walled it off to create a new more generous laundry room with room for ironing & sewing. The now rectangular shaped kitchen was reoriented by installing new windows with higher sills we were able to line the exterior wall with cabinets and counter, giving the sink a nice view to the side yard. To create the Victorian look the owners desired in their 1920’s home, we used wall cabinets with inset doors and beaded panels, for economy the base cabinets are full overlay doors & drawers all in the same finish, Nordic White. The owner selected a gorgeous serene white river granite for the counters and we selected a taupe glass subway tile to pull the palette together. Another special feature of this kitchen is the custom pocket dog door. The owner’s had a salvaged door that we incorporated in a pocket in the peninsula to corale the dogs when the owner aren’t home. Super White Quartzite Countertops. Super White is a great natural marble-look-alike.

This kitchen features Venetian Gold Granite Counter tops, White Linen glazed custom cabinetry on the parameter and Gunstock stain on the island, the vent hood and around the stove. The Flooring is American Walnut in varying sizes. There is a natural stacked stone on as the backsplash under the hood with a travertine subway tile acting as the backsplash under the cabinetry. Two tones of wall paint were used in the kitchen. Oyster bar is found as well as Morning Fog.

Leathered Antique Brown Granite on the perimeter counters and River Valley Granite on the island. Leathered granite is a matte finish granite that has texture (the amount of texture usually depends on the minerals in the individual granites). Leathered Antique Brown Granite is a black (then name is a little off) granite that is almost soft to the touch. It still has a good amount of iridescence to it, as you can see in the photos. The River Valley Granite on the island is gentle, lilting stone that adds brightness and motion to the balance the dark perimeter counters.

We imported this Taupe White Granite directly from Antolini Luigi & C. Fabricators (Verona, Italy). The kitchen is in an historic home in St. Mary's County, MD. The Taupe White Granite has a marble -like appearance with a white background, soft grey lines, and bits of gold. The kitchen has bookmatched 5" granite backsplash, and the edge profile is half-bullnose.
