This is a very unusual piece for us. The client has office furniture from a big box store (whose name I won’t mention) and the husband wanted a stand up desk to use for his photography hobby. They could not find anything that would go with their existing big box office furniture, so they asked us to come up with something. Here it is, a stand up desk made with Maple plywood and hardwood, finished with lacquer, which came close to their existing office furniture color. The 3 pull out shelves on the left side are for a printer, scanner and enlarger. The pull out shelf on the right is a bookshelf for photography books. Two drawers above that are for miscellaneous photography stuff. There is also a footrest on the right side so that he can change position while working. The desk is 57” long, 46” high (the client is 6’ 4” tall) and 27” deep. Customizable to suit your needs.

The Molteni & C Round D.154.5 armchair was originally conceived in 1954 by Giovanni Ponti, the great Twentieth century architect and designer. More than 60 years later, the chair is reborn based on the original drawings from the Gio Ponti Archives thanks to the Heritage Collection reissue project by brand Molteni&C. Incredibly fond of this chair, Gio Ponti used it in many of his architectural projects. The name, Round D.154.5, comes from the rounded shape of the seat and backrests, also referred to as the "soap bar". Round D.154.5 is sometimes called "Otto Pezzi" (Eight Pieces) as there eight pieces that make up the chair: backrest, seat, two curved plywood elements and four legs, which screw into the seat to hold the whole thing together. For the covers it is possible to select them in one single material or you can have the sides in a different material. The cost will be determined by the most expensive material used. There are a huge range of fabrics and leathers in the Molteni&C collection to choose from, or you can provide your own fabric, subject to approval by Molteni. This renovation to a prototypical Toronto semi-detached home makes the most of a compact, urban property. Several strategies to maximize tight spaces extend the boundaries of the house. Opening up the main level and adding an oversized sliding door to the backyard fills the living spaces with light and air while extending the house visually to the outdoors during the cooler months and physically in the summer. Custom built-in millwork optimizes small spaces by adding storage while doubling as furniture, and the new finished basement provides overflow space for guests and active kids.

Open bookshelves create a cozy atmosphere in the small dining room and a collection of antique blue and white Canton china adds color to an otherwise neutral room. The dining table was created from a metal pedestal base from a restaurant supply source with a 42" diameter plywood top. An alternate 54" diameter plywood with its own skirt will allow seating for six guests. In addition to the books and china, the shelves display some of the owner's collection of antique wood boxes, architectural fragments, family photos and a furniture mold. Photo by Lisa Banting

This Bespoke kitchen has an L-shaped run of cabinets wrapped in Stainless Steel. The cabinets have a mirrored plinth with feet, giving the illusion of free standing furniture. The worktop is Calacatta Medici Marble with a back panel and floating shelf. A Gaggenau gas hob it set into the marble worktop and has a matching Gaggenau oven below it.
