This project was a residence for a couple from the Washington D.C. area. The original house was a poorly conceived series of stucco boxes with no relationship to the outdoor spaces, or the distant vistas. These qualities were some of the more spectacular aspects of the 25 acre site. Our design response was to create two distinct outdoor ‘loggias’ on the front and back of the house to take advantage of wine country indoor/outdoor living, and to completely re-imagine the front of the house to allow the spectacular view of the Napa Valley to become part of their living experience. The simple palette of materials, stone, stucco, wood and steel are used in a way to bring some refined elegance to the property; reflecting the sophisticated vision of the clients. A renowned St. Louis mid-century modern architect's home in St. Louis, MO is now owned by his son, who grew up in the home. The original detached garage was failing. Mosby architects worked with the architect's original drawings of the home to create a new garage that matched and echoed the style of the home, from roof slope to brick color. This is an example of how gracefully the detached garage echoes the features of the screen porch the architect added to his home in the 1960s. Photos by Mosby Building Arts.

This nursery began in an empty white-box room with incredible natural light, the challenge being to give it warmth and add multi-functionality. Through floral motifs and hints of gold, we created a boho glam room perfect for a little girl. We played with texture to give depth to the soft color palette. The upholstered crib is convertible to a toddler bed, and the daybed can serve as a twin bed, offering a nursery that can grow with baby. The changing table doubles as a dresser, while the hanging canopy play area serves as a perfect play and reading nook.
