Susie Burchell's Dramatic Bathroom in Black and White Cluny Cement Tiles Especially dramatic is the floor to ceiling wall of Cluny patterned cement tile in the shower, complete with tiled shower niche. This bathroom is in Rhode Island and is perfect for overcast days that call for a little pizzazz.

This mid-century home was given a complete overhaul, just love the way it turned out.

This Addition/Remodel to a waterfront Residence on a steeply sloped lot on Mercer Island, Washington called for the expansion of an Existing Garage to facilitate the addition of a new space above which accommodates both an Exercise Room and Art Studio. The Existing Garage is semi-detached from the Main Residence and connected by an Existing Entry/Breezeway. The Owners requested that the remodeled structure be attached to and integrated with the Main Structure which required the expansion and reconfiguration of the Existing Entry and introduction of a secondary stair. The Addition sits to the west of the Main Structure away from the view of Lake Washington. It does however form the North face of the Existing Auto Court and therefore dominates the view for anyone entering the Site as it is the first element seen from the driveway that winds down to the Structure from the Street. The Owners were determined to have the addition “fit” with the forms of the Existing Structure but provide a more contemporary expression for the structure as a whole. Two-story high walls at the Entry enable the placement of various art pieces form the Owners significant collection. The exterior materials for the Addition include a combination of cement board panels by Sil-Leed as well as cedar Siding both of which were applied as Rain-Screen. These elements were strategically carried on to the Existing Structure to replace the more traditional painted wood siding. The existing cement roof tiles were removed in favor of a new standing seam metal roof. New Sectional Overhead Doors with white laminated glass in a brushed aluminum frame appoint the Garage which faces the Auto Court. A large new Entry Door features art glass set within a walnut frame and includes pivot hardware.

A custom bookcase for cookbook collection was built from recycled wood. Maker was found at a local home show in Portland. All furniture pieces were made or found and selected/designed maximizing height to accentuate tall ceilings. The vestibule in the background shows tiny space added by new nib walls as entry way to existing bathroom. the camilleriparismode project and design studio were entrusted to convert and redesign a 200 year old townhouse situated in the heart of naxxar. the clients wished a large kitchen married to different entertainment spaces as a holistic concept on the ground floor. the first floor would have three bedrooms, thus upstairs and downstairs retaining a ‘family’ home feel which was the owners’ primary preconception. camilleriparismode design studio – careful to respect the structure’s characteristics - remodeled the house to give it a volume and ease of movement between rooms. the staircase turns 180 degrees with each bedroom having individual access and in turn connected through a new concrete bridge. a lightweight glass structure, allowing natural light to flow unhindered throughout the entire house, has replaced an entire wall in the central courtyard. architect ruben lautier undertook the challenge to oversee all structural changes. the authentic and original patterned cement tiles were kept, the stone ceilings cleaned and pointed and its timber beams painted in soft subtle matt paints form our zuber collection. bolder tones of colours were applied to the walls. roman blinds of large floral patterned fabric, plush sofas and eclectic one-off pieces of furniture as well as artworks make up the decoration of the ground floor. the master bedroom upstairs and its intricately designed tiles houses an 18th century bed dressed in fine linens form camilleriparismode’s fabric department. the rather grand décor of this room is juxtaposed against the sleek modern ensuite bathroom and a walk-in shower made up of large slab brushed travertine. photography © brian grech

Top shelves are a perfect way to personalize your room with mementos, collectibles and home décor. Open shelving offers a substantial amount of depth, allowing you to display your exclusive handbags. Conveniently kept in the lower cabinet is a hide away ironing board. The drawer mounted ironing board slides out when needed and easily folds up when not in use. It also rotates, which gives you the freedom to position it where you feel most comfortable. Having necessities readily available can make tedious house chores a little more enjoyable. This design is completed with integrated LED lighting. Positioned by the bed, touch dimmable LED’s provide mood lighting for your living space. Within the open shelving, recessed LED lights enhance the look of the unit while showcasing your displayed possessions.
