By using a number of herbs that have both culinary and medicinal use we are trying to encourage the public to find more sustainable, home grown options for their own food and medicine. The project also features a vertical herbal wall which is a new idea taking shape in the industry. The wall allows you to provide herbs and vegetables with an optimum growing environment while saving an exorbitant amount of space. It gives people with limited space or poor growing conditions, such as people who live in cities an opportunity to grow their own herbs and vegetables. In addition to the herb wall, vegetables such as lettuce, spinach,beans,tomatoes, and many more can be seen throughout the garden. The garden is located adjacent to the kitchen of the residence to further enhance the garden to table idea. We hope that after seeing this fun themed garden people can both enjoy the space,but also try to apply many of the practices we show to their own landscape. As part of a Playroom Project meant to inspire imagination and creativity in children we created this art wall. For long term favorite pieces we have an area to hang framed art. At a lower more kid friendly height is a strip of steel where kids can switch out art as often as they want with magnetic clips.Each child has his or her own section and decals were used to mark each one. I designed this 2nd floor art studio for my next-door neighbor, Sona, who does fired glass art, jewelry, fabric projects and other crafts. The vaulted ceiling makes the space seem larger, helps to keep the room cooler, and lets in abundant daylight via the high gable-end windows (one end faces north, of course). Hidden fluorescent cove lights wash up the sloped ceiling planes, spreading uniform ambient light across the room. I designed the 4'x8' island as a project layout center and convenient work area. Perimeter display and storage cabinets and other work counters line the perimeter of the space. You can see some of Sona's glass art displayed with backlighting on the custom "light table" countertop along the stairwell. This GFRC (glass fiber reinforced concrete) countertop was built by Austinite John Newbold of Newbold Stone. This teen room had a small window and it was long and narrow. So we decided to make it fun and bit wild. A messy wall art of map catches the eyes. We broke the room by adding a dark shaggy rug to the middle. In addition some bamboo wall panels added height and texture to the walls.
