The living room is characterised by hushed tones, clean lines and contemporary furniture in teak-, ash- and rubber-wood. A powder-blue sofa and a smorgasbord of accents lend a dash of colour to the otherwise muted aesthetic.
“We pulled down the wall between the living room and the balcony to expand the internal footprint and invite more sunlight indoors,” says Anoop Bhat, principal architect and mamama’s other half.

The dining room is a seamless extension of the living area. Here, the rubber-wood dining table is complemented by an upholstered bench, which doubles as additional seating for the living area.

The wall between the dining room and the kitchen was fitted with a window to facilitate a semi-open layout. Running its length, a broad counter acts as a serving surface for the dining area.
“The clients wanted a closed kitchen considering their heavy-duty use; this intervention was brought in as a compromise,” says Bhat.
The master bedroom is dominated by a white shell and soft-blue furnishings.
“The furniture scheme was governed by favourites from the clients’ previous home. The bed was refinished in teak veneer and offset with a teal curtain backdrop,” Rose says.

The wardrobe opposite the bed features a taupe laminate and sleek metal handles.
“The master bathroom was completely revamped; ledge walls were put in and bottle-green handmade tiles were added. The bronze fixtures give the scene a glam spin,” says Bhat.

“We continued the white and ecru of the walls onto the cupboard to maintain a sense of cohesion,” says Rose. The room gets little pops of colour from the paintings, soft furnishings and accessories.
Opposite the bed, a puja alcove lies concealed in a rattan-shuttered unit.

In the common bathroom, grey terrazzo and white subway tiles come together to deliver a minimalist monochrome vibe.
“This was originally an ensuite for the son’s room. The access to this bathroom was moved to make it accessible from the common passageway,” says Rose.
