In this article we focus on how colour can be used to create the perfect, romantic ambience in the bedroom. Let’s take a look at four colours that can bring about that loving feeling.
The Cross Interior Design
1. Raspberry pink
This hot reddish-pink hue is arguably the colour of love. I think it’d be tough to go to sleep mad at your partner if this is where you both lay your heads at the end of the day. Raspberry hues pair well with warm metal hues such as copper, bronze and gold. Add plenty of white to keep the palette crisp and clean.
Annie Hall Interiors
If the raspberry hue in the previous image is too intense for you, consider a more muted version of the colour. This softer raspberry pink feels warm and intimate without the shock of a true hot pink. To get a similarly harmonious palette, try injecting bits of purple and blue, colours that are analogous to pink – meaning they are next to one another on the colour wheel. Because the various colours aren’t wildly contrasting, the space is colourful but also relaxed and mellow. And super romantic.

2. Deep ruby red
Where raspberry pink is fun and flirty, this rich red hue is dark and sultry. I like pairing this alluring colour with warm neutrals and small bits of black.
This is one heavy, saturated hue, so it’s a good candidate for a feature wall. In smaller spaces where it might be a tight fit to squeeze in a headboard, you can use paint to create the illusion of one. If your bedroom is light-deficient, be sure to add plenty of warm white or other light neutrals to keep it from feeling too snug.

3. Caramel
According to a survey conducted in the U.K., respondents with caramel-coloured bedrooms claimed to have the most sex. Whether this particular colour is more conducive to intimacy than others is an open question, but if you opt to go for this colour in your bedroom, my advice is to look for a caramel that’s more orange than brown, as the latter can look a bit muddy, especially in bedrooms that lack plenty of natural light.
Bella Villa Design Studio
This softer, peachier version gives the room a warm and inviting vibe, especially with the rich, dark woods. This is a nice option for anyone looking for a romantic feel in the bedroom who also prefers a lighter and brighter hue.
The Ancon Group
I love the caramel-coloured ceiling detail in this super romantic bedroom. If your partner’s face is the final thing you want to see (and kiss goodnight) before drifting off to sleep, that stunning ceiling would surely be the second-to-the-last thing you’d want to see.

4. Black
If pink and red are the colours of love, then black is the colour of sexy. But black walls can be tough to pull off in a home because they absorb so much light and can make a space feel small and claustrophobic. If you’re going for an intimate vibe in your bedroom, especially if yours is a larger space, black can be a great option. It’s dramatic without being loud and it will make the room feel cozy and private.
CÚRE & PENABAD
If you like the idea of incorporating black into your bedroom but black-painted walls are just too much for you, think about using the colour in other ways, such as on the floor or via a trim or accent colour. This beautiful black and white bedroom is about as romantic as you can get, and with a very simple and minimal colour scheme.
