7 Essential Vastu Tips for Your Bedroom
Here are key tips according to Vastu Shastra that will help make your bedroom into a more positive and a restful space

The philosophy of Vastu Shastra is based on the flow of cosmic energy or prana within a space. Vastu Shastra is a collection of ideas and concepts, which are believed to improve the energies of the place when applied to its design or architecture, thereby positively affecting an individual’s life. The discipline also helps an individual live in balance with the five elements of nature – earth, water, air, fire and space. Here, I have listed out seven ways a bedroom can become a chamber of prosperity when aligned according to vastu.

1. In Vastu Shastra, the door that opens into the bedroom is considered the gateway to opportunities. So, the door should be installed in such a way that it opens fully or at least ninety degrees so that positivity can flow freely into the room. A door that cannot open fully brings brakes and hurdles in life.
2. Upon entering the bedroom, the first thing that should be in your line of sight is something that gives you the feeling of peace and serenity. This could be a family photograph, a favourite quote, painting, sculpture or even flowers that enhance positive emotions.

3. Removing clutter from your bedroom is essential in vastu. Clutter, especially under your bed, weighs you down and brings stress in your life. Clear or organise areas that have accumulated papers, magazines and books, to help you create a sense of order and extra space in your room.
4. Positive energy flows from the north and the blood in our body, containing iron, makes our body magnetic and positive, too. According to vastu, when you sleep with your head towards the north, these two positive polarities repel each other, disrupting the flow of blood, affecting your sleep and health. Therefore, it is advised that you sleep with your head towards the south.
5. A mirror on the wall opposite the foot of your bed can disturb your sleep. You release stress during your sleep and a mirror tends to hold the stress and reflect it back, affecting you when you wake up. Move the mirror to the side of the bed or cover it at night for a more restful and refreshing sleep.

6. Exposed beams or slanted ceilings are symbols of oppression as they create a jarring effect on the energy flow. If your bed is directly underneath an exposed beam or under a slanted roof, it will be difficult to have peaceful rest. Cover these beams with a false ceiling or with a similar remedy.
7. Try not to sleep in direct alignment with sharp corners (tables, chairs, stools). These act as energy spears and create stress in the nervous system. There is no serenity in a room that has objects or furniture with sharp edges. You can place plants near them to reduce the negative impact.

@fiona YES . Vastu in an Indian is an Ancient Indian study of Environmental and Energy . The word 'Vastu' means 'dwelling', and ' Shastra" Means ' Science' . Thus Vastu Shastra in Totality means the Science of Living in Harmony with Nature.
I do not believe in Vastu shastra (VS) for multiple reasons. First, every "vastu consultant" i have worked with so far have failed to give a logical explanation for the rules of VS, neither they have been able to provide a valid answer to any of my questions where belief comes into play. Secondly, every vastu believer has something contradictory to each other. So it's purely a matter of belief! Thirdly, i have seen people make huge architectural errors just to comply their homes/offices as per vastu! (Some of them are huge, seriously). However, as an architect i always advice my clients to be logical and i do respect their beliefs and design according to vastu to those who believe in it.
