Joylynn, the beams are made of #1 Sugar pine. The stain is 2 parts Spanish Oak, 1 part Walnut and 1 part clear stain base ( Kelly Moore Laquer stain). The stain is applied over a tinted pre-stain to avoid bloching or "striking in" that is common when staining pine. The finish used for the top coat is dead flat and it is slightly tinted as well to help achieve a good ,rich uniform final finish. Hope that helps. Paul
