Pankaj, I just realized that initially you told us that the bathroom area was 12'-0" x 9'-0" and later you mentioned that it was 11'-8" x 8'-0". In the last floor plan, I forgot to change the bathroom with the new dimensions. Below is the floor plan with the correct dimensions for the bathroom. The bedroom is ok, I drew it 19'-2" x 12'-6". The new layout does not change the way things are placed. Everything still fit. The only difference is that the vanity is now 4'-4" long instead of 4'-8". and the toilet is closer to the shower by 1'-0". Can you give me the lengths of the walls K and L. They are the walls between the vanity and the shower area. I will send you the new layout once you give me the length of these 2 walls.

I too am thinking of using Indian-inspired decorations and colours. The house I have bought is boring and needs a funky touch! It needs some joy and a lack of seriousness!! To the furniture I already own I am adding a few op-shop buys which I can afford to paint without feeling I am destroying their integrity! I am also enjoying sourcing second-hand bits which I can spray-paint and decorate. I am going to add a few trims from shaped and cut-out plyboard to create false arches over some windows and doors. Also I have some gold/brass-coloured beading from a framing business to add a little glitz to odd mirrors I have picked up. I'm going through my stash of fabrics, collected over a life-time of sewing and hoarding! to create some throws and curtains that will hopefully give an authentic Indian flavour to the windows, beds and couches without costing me a fortune.

Here are a few key design elements that would help you achieve the perfect look - 1] Pastel Walls and/or damask wallpapers are characteristic. 2] Wall Panelings for a two tone wall (as in the above picture) or as a pattern on the wall add character. 3] Large sized mirrors on walls work wonders. 4] Upholstery in rich fabrics and pastel colours also contribute immensely. You can also go for red or violet fabrics for a chair or two to add drama. And yeah, lost of cushions! 5] Mixed bag of furniture/ non modular furniture with white and golden polish for arms and legs. Polished teak also works well. 6] Decor items like figurines, vases, bracket lights and crystal chandeliers collected from second hand or antique shops. These days even well known home decor brands keep antique items. 7] Floor length american pleat curtains frame the openings and add layers to the walls. 8] Wooden flooring topped with carpets give the space a cozy feel.
