Design Dilemma Furniture Living Room

Large square living room

How can I design and plan furniture in a large square room. My kitchen and dining area is separate. The living room will be 20 by 20 ft. Some say if I put sofa and leave everything empty the distance between sofa and tv will be too much

I am so sorry that some builder had no sense. Can you just cover them with art? One big piece to cover all three? Or a big one and two smaller ones? Can't really tell without pictures.

I would suggest using a blackout and thermally insulating roller blind, and sheer drapes inside that. You would be able to use the sheer drapes most of the time, and the blinds for hot sunny weather or TV when the sun is in the wrong place.

I think kitchen and eating area should be next to each other and kitchen should be near or next to an entry for ease in putting away food stuff. The sitting area should be near an outside view to add relaxed vibe to area and the TV should be opposite sofa for easy viewing.....sometimes necessary to move the TV and rewire accordingly. Jaisalmer is a beautiful flooring. Its not too yellow. More of an ochre/amber colour. Looks rich and warm and doesn't have the cold impersonal appearance of white marble. It is also dark veined, so it is a very personal choice. The larger the slabs, the better for you. I've used 4'-0" x 5'-0". Even 3'-0" x 4'-0" is okay. But it is very important to get references for proper stone layers and polish guys from the supplier. You can really get stuck if you don't get the right people. And yes, it would look stunning with red open brick walls and traditional furniture

Your TV screen size x 2 = The optimal distance between your TV and sofa.

So for 60" TV 120" is the ideal distance. You are having around 18' as distance.

Or

Put the TV on the south wall and the sofa facing it. To hide the back of the sofa from the entrance put the console table behind it. So that console takes the attention of the eye rather than the sofa back.
