I agree with painting the doors. All my interior doors are a deep charcoal grey. You'd be surprised how expensive it makes them look. That aside I would start with a rug. A huge rug. Something chic with a lot of color. Then add love seats in white, colorful pillows, and chairs in fabrics that pickup the colors in your rug. No BIG furniture. Just because you have a big room doesn't mean you need to stick a brown sectional in it. A couple fancy topiary would look great under those windows. And dont forget lighting.

I would go online and check out IKEA furniture/ living rooms for inspiration, even if there is not one close to you. Then with road trip it to IKEA or use their LR designs for inspiration. Affordable wall art, rugs, drapes/ blinds and furniture can turn this into a great spot. Right now it looks like odds and ends you have gathered about you.

Based on your style you can select the decor items to display. even if you want a luxurious feel to you room, add mirrors or metal accents. A traditional nature inspired would involve textured items in wood, cane, handicrafts etc.
