I beleive that a nice combination of two curtains like the one with the blue and peach double curtains in the picture, will give you an eclectic feeling that matches to your painting. The combination of colors that I suggest is this blue with brown flares and the cream-peach taffetas, and the soft cream sheer behind. we do in guest bedroom,, but not sure will go with colors I have picked out, and the great room is a vaulted ceiling ....I guess we will just have to see...our house is being built and will be very open..not alot of wall space.

I agree with painting the doors. All my interior doors are a deep charcoal grey. You'd be surprised how expensive it makes them look. That aside I would start with a rug. A huge rug. Something chic with a lot of color. Then add love seats in white, colorful pillows, and chairs in fabrics that pickup the colors in your rug. No BIG furniture. Just because you have a big room doesn't mean you need to stick a brown sectional in it. A couple fancy topiary would look great under those windows. And dont forget lighting.

Susan, I find that people often make their coffee tables too low and too small. Measure the height of your sofa cushion and pick a coffee table that is a similar height. Also, in the layout you posted above the room would look better with a larger coffee table. Even as long as your sofa, or close to it.
