White living room needs decor

My living room has been recently done, all in white. Its kinda large with a high ceiling. The room is closed with only two big doors and no open windows since it will be completely air-conditioned. There will be plenty of natural light despite the frosted glass that the doors and windows have. I want to add some colour to it when I do the furniture and furnishings. I don't want to overdo it but I want to add a splash just the same. I understand I have to choose a theme colour and I am thinking yellow or red since both are bright colours. Orange also does well. Please suggest how to do it up.

Why don't you troll Houzz first and build an idea book of anything you like for each room. Then go back and see if you notice a reoccurring furniture design, wood color, style ... Any kind of preference. Any of us can post three gorgeous rooms for you, but they will be a reflection of our taste and not yours.

Hi Raghvendra! What I understand is that you require ideas for cushions and also for the wall. First of all, decide on the theme which you are going for.....modern...European....etc. Your furniture looks a mix of the two. As such a full view of the room would help one to decide on the best combination. Also the furniture material esp sofa will decide the texture of the walls and the cloth you will use for cushions. Also the size of cushion will matter. Personal choice of the color is best. I always go for rustic looks which matches most & mingles with all set ups. It give a look of luxury too. The doors and windows are already painted white. The only ideation left for me is to put the colour with the furniture + furnishings

Your furniture can be any color and add the vibrant colors with art, pillows, rug, wall hanging, etc. I might use black furniture and would paint the door and surrounding windows black for some contrast and interest. [houzz=

I agree with painting the doors. All my interior doors are a deep charcoal grey. You'd be surprised how expensive it makes them look. That aside I would start with a rug. A huge rug. Something chic with a lot of color. Then add love seats in white, colorful pillows, and chairs in fabrics that pickup the colors in your rug. No BIG furniture. Just because you have a big room doesn't mean you need to stick a brown sectional in it. A couple fancy topiary would look great under those windows. And dont forget lighting.

I was thinking about the rug, yes. Love the topiary idea. Lemme think how to do that. Thanks a ton guys. Oh and I'd be looking forward to more ideas!

Ground the space with the darker furniture and get the color with everything else. Sounds like you have chosen the accent colors and they will be awesome in the rug and art and decor.
