Flooring ideas - same flooring throughout?

We're looking at replacing our flooring with engineered wood or solid wood, and LVT in the kitchen.

Our house is a typical victorian layout (hallway, living room off to the right, then a study, and then the dining room/kitchen.

If we go for wood all the way through, with some dark tiles, would that be 'too much'? Aesthetically, I mean. When our kitchen is renovated, it will be down the left hand side of the room only, so we'll have wood from the moment you step through the vestibule all the way to the back of the house.

The original boards are mostly still in place (underneath lino and laminate at the moment) so originally it would have been this way, but I worry that it won't be broken up enough and might be overbearing; although we'll have some rugs.
