Good question - our specifications called for one of several similar types of tropical hardwood. Options included Ipe, Garapa, Cambar, Camaru, Tahuari or Lapacho Negro. However we're not really sure which of these the contractor ultimately installed or if it was a similar material but not on our list. I'm guessing Camaru. The important thing is that it was fastened with stainless steel fasteners and clips that left an air gap behind the wood and that didn't penetrate the face of the siding (which leaves streaky stains after a while).
