The wood is beautiful. To me, the wood has an oriental-Japanese-inspired vibe. This wall's paint is nice, if your can match. Here's a method of choosing wall paint: http://www.lindaholtinteriors.com/2011/07/testing-wall-color-101/ Can you keep just the curtain panels and remove the sheers? At a later time, a non-patterned curtain panel the color of wall. I saw the art and I think it is OK, but not for this room. Perhaps in a bedroom? I don't understand the theme you have going? Giraffes? Clocks? If you like clocks, remove the giraffes and buy something like a large round wrought iron "clock". Note also the rug, pillows & throw as inspiration for your room. Perhaps the TV console in a lighter tone wood like their end tables (your room = too much black).

Rather than a pair of sofas, you could have one sofa with two matching chairs opposite, separated by a table with a lamp. Then you could float an open-framed chair facing the window. The cocktail table could be replaced with a grouping of bunching tables for a more modern look. How much more assistance do you require?

Keya, glad you decided to take the one reader's idea about moving the armoires in front of windows that you don't need and giving the bed a wall of its own! And, yes, you can have Roman shades on one wall and layered drapes on the other. When I had drapes made for my tall sitting room windows/doors, I had them use the same fabric for the Roman shades for the smaller windows on the other wall. For me personally, in these older Indian homes with all the odd nooks and niches in the walls, perhaps it would be more soothing to have a light/med tone paint on the walls that blends with the drapes/blinds for an 'uninterrupted' look, and I would use the same color on ceiling and beams. (but that is just my thought) I would start the process with a large carpet with your favorite colors, then choose your Bedcover & cushions, then your wall paint and fabric for drapes/blinds ..Not certain what style you like, but if you really like a particular Ethnic bedcover fabric, you can always have them stitched into curtains or Roman shades too. Can't wait to see the "After" pics!

HI -- The sofa and the chairs and the rug are fine together .... what I don't like is the storage ottoman . It would look better if you had a coffee table with some glass on the top and a wood or metal base . Then add some drapes in a natural linen or some with a natural background with thin black stripes or add a small black border or edging . And a lamp or two with oil rubbed iron bases and linen shades . Then some better cushions . Put matching lumbar pillows like the one on the sofa for the chairs then the red square ones on the sofa and add in a fur one or two in black .
