you are thinking about the space right now. it looks odd, no doubt. 1) when you fill in with the furniture, just make sure the three steps are hidden. 2) consider three potted plants of different height, so the rectangle is complete. 3) glass bowl with Siamese fighting fish for each step 4) figurines of different heights 5) 2inch square wooden bar on each step up to the top of the rectangle. and complete the entire rectangle if you want with a smaller rectangle open in the center my suggestion is, there is a reason why this space ended up like this. it will look great once you put something there. things like these are what make your house unique.

Hi Ashish, You can opt for any of the following options - 1] Frame the L- shaped junction of the wall and beam/ceiling with a wooden frame similar to your handrail and fix glass into it as shown in the image below. 2] Alternatively, you can go for other options like a jali or rafters to secure the opening and complete the look. Like this - Doing this would provide an enclosure to the staircase and give you some storage space below the landing as shown below. Conceal the space with a veneer finished door and a handle and you are good to go. You may store hardware items, gas cylinder, gardening equipment etc. or convert it into a wine cellar if you like. if required a wooden pergola can be added attached to the staircase mumty on left side but it should not exceed from the height of mumty. It will complete the elevation. Also if you love planters then put some creepers and hanging lights over the wooden pergola.
