We have recently finished the two and a half storey structure of bungalow. In the ground floor, there are guest room, kitchen and living cum dining room with a space for upstairs. It is a duplex concept house. Also in the first floor we out master bed room, children's room, parent room, family lounge, study room and a pantry. From the first floor is the gazebo entry with front facing. All the rooms have attached baths and toilets except the study, pantry and family lounge. The second floor has laundry room, spa room and a big prayer room( ibadat khana). Please help to decide on the window and door style and sizes that looks beautiful in such structures. I would go with the second plan, more or less. Having a fridge right next to the wall seems like a bad idea to me, and I personally can't stand ranges/cooktops on islands--I like the hood venting straight outside. But I would want more countertop to the left of the fridge--when I take food out of the fridge I would want to plop it right onto the counter, and it looks like there's not enough room as it is.

I would consider putting cabinets on the short wall where the utility wall is. Have your stove there centered on the area. Move the sink so it is centered on the long wall where the cooktop is now. Put the fridge on the end run of cabinets closest to the dining table. That will give you an L shape kitchen with a nice work triangle. If you have your heart set on an island remove all the wall cabinets and install a large island. This is not the style of your kitchen but it does show the layout I described above. L shape cabinetry with stove on short end, sink in the middle with DW to right of sink with cabinet above it for dish storage and the refridgerator on the end run so it is out of work triangle and conveniet to the dining area for serving or work triangle for prep and cooking. Island can be any style you desire. L shape with island and open across from island; you might consider this layout if you desire an island. Something like this?

Sonam, Measurements are in feet here. A sink can fit in the space, however it will cut down a lot on your storage space both below sink and wall storage. Without knowing your personal requirements, IMHO, it may not be worthwhile to have two sinks close-by ; specially when it is having storage impact. Thanks, Nitin CORNERSTONE DESIGNS, Bangalore
