I would prefer the second, but would need more space between stove and sink. That's where I do prep.

Second version. Venting the range up and out is always best. Having a large amount of countertop for landing bags of groceries, prepping, serving is preferred. Skip the cabinets on the left wall and add pantry with sliding doors.

Move the sink to the island. And the fridge to the right of the window. It's too deep into the kitchen. Bad for traffic 'attends to have people running through your prep zone. Fridges belong on the edge of the kitchen perimeter, adjacent to dining and family space.

I would go with the second plan, more or less. Having a fridge right next to the wall seems like a bad idea to me, and I personally can't stand ranges/cooktops on islands--I like the hood venting straight outside. But I would want more countertop to the left of the fridge--when I take food out of the fridge I would want to plop it right onto the counter, and it looks like there's not enough room as it is.

Is there enough space on the short wall for an L shaped kitchen? There might not be enough space for the shallow pantry beside the fridge. The following plan does not include the entry doors:

A small thing. In either plan, l would suggest a counter depth refrigerator for a more streamlined look.

Great! Counter space next to the fridge, the landing spot for food close to the range where it will be cooked, a couple of cabinets dedicated to dishes on the other side of the DW: looks good to me.

Much better! I like your final plan. Stove is on the wall and there is ample prep space around the appliances.
