Need help with design ideas for living room

Hi PROs on Houzz,

I need some help in deciding the furniture layout for our living room. i am attaching the house layout image and a layout I am considering. Here are the considerations-
1. one wall in living area will be used as projector screen and will have to be empty.
2. we are keen to explore is we can accommodate low height seating below large window in the living area. I am keen to hear professional views if that is appropriate in a living area and some some visual cues towards how to do that.

Will be grateful to receive some suggestions.

Hello Abhijit,

Wow..That's an amazing house already! We are sure it would look all the more better once you are done...

In the living room we would suggest to place the L shaped sofa next to the window and the dining area wall.

Low seating would look chick with warm wooden flooring..

For your projector make sure that fan height is taken care , in case it is ceiling mounted.

Thanks.. they look interesting. I also want explore if L shape sofa can be place along the passage and dining area wall? will that help demarcate living room area?? then the space in front of large window could be used for low seating. any thoughts on this are welcome.

Hello bobbi, Here are the pictures. 1) tv unit area 2) opposite wall ( area for sofa) , 3) enterance ( please suggest something near the enterance area that incorporates shoe rack and a medium length partition that doesn't look very crowded). 4) dining area. As I had mentioned that we are looking at contemperory designs that are modern interiors with minimalist in furniture to give more of peaceful ambiance. I have to set up my New Living cum Dining room. Drawing is as attached. I do not have a sofa and I do not plan to buy any. Instead, I will prefer to buy some light weight chairs. I already have a 6 seater Dining table, a single bed and 3 old trunks of my MIL which I plan to put somewhere in this room and cover up with some padding above it and a good bed cover or Table cover. Please suggest me a good idea.

The spaces look clearly defined, as is. You might add an area rug under the dining table for greater definition, or a lattice screen to separate and still allow light to flow.

What are those red curved lines? The measurement is also not clear. What i understood with this is that , You should have two different rooms - one is formal drawing room with only sitting area and for that you need not provide a partition as it should look grand from your entryway and second one should be the living room. There you must give a partition between both the rooms so that the person sitting in the drawing room cannot peek in the living room and it'll be kind of privacy as other area will also be not directly visible . By giving a partition you are messing up the passage way more.

Hello Abhijit,

Imo, there is no real reason to demarcate the living area here. The USP of this place is it's openess please try to mantain that.

By the way do you have any space on the other side of the windows.

Hi Nitin, There is no space beyond windows. windows overlook large open ground.
