I would cover that window with a painting or a tapestry. Just make it disappear visually assuming you have an exhaust fan. If the sink is too big for the door I would add a pedestal sink. If storage is needed then add it between the bathroom door and the shower door. Other than the door being too close to the vanity, what makes the space dysfunctional?

That is not a bad bathroom! I would take off the mini blinds and put white shutters on the bottom half of the window and leave the top half bare and call it a day. (Actually you might want to swap out the white cabinet in the mirror to match the vanity and tie it together).

at least its not facing the door :)) no problem with the window there , just get some film to block shadows , let me see what I can find on here but Home Depot sells it by the rolls you cut to fit the window .

Cafe shutters would be an easy solution for the window issue.

The vanity is too big for this bathroom. Put in a smaller vanity to give yourself some elbow room. Also put in a pocket door if you can.

I wouldn't use shutters or blinds. Depending on your privacy needs. A half-window cafe curtain or roman shade.

Looks like a fairly functional bathroom to me. Window covering can be address in any of the ways mentioned above. If the door swing is bothering you, the least expensive option would be to change it so it swings out into the adjoining room. The best option would be to add a pocket door. That's going to involve removing drywall and reframing studs but I have one in my bathroom and like it a lot. Not sure how long your shower is but another option to open it up and avoid the shower door swing is to add a stationary glass panel on the shower head end and leave the other end open. You only need about a 24" opening to fit through comfortably.

If the problem with the window is lack of privacy, cover it with shades or with frosted film to add privacy. Is there some other problem with having a window there? Having an opening window in a bathroom is generally an asset because it provides fresh air and cuts down on humidity and the problems that causes.

Also, the vanity seems very large for such a small bathroom.

Film or roller shades. I love seeing out when no one is looking in.

I took a second look at the window and if you are considering a shutter you don't have enough room for one ,look at the tank and how much space you have then calculate . If it was my window the film would be my pick ,you can open the window to let air in and close it with no problem .

Plantation shutters on that window would be great.

Has anyone read that above a toilet the flush can send a bit of....??? [if you don't close the lid]. No shutters: film and maybe a roller shade in a pretty color, wipeable.

What is the biggest complaint? That the toilet is in the way of GETTING into the shower? Or the lack of pricacy?

Shutter the window, it's the only option that makes any sense in a bathroom. For more help, put DIMENSIONS on your drawing. For everything. The bathroom needs to be gutted : )

Shirlpp and quercus2 I think you nailed the problem down in that the vanity is too big for the room and in fact it actually overlaps under the window on the left making it awkward to open the window and use the toilet. That vanitys drawers on the right side interfere with the opening of the bathroom door. I can replace it with a smaller vanity and sell this one on Craigslist so I can at least recover some of my costs. I’ve got another just like this one in my 4th bathroom with limited storage and in the way of the toilet as well.

Replacing that cheapo blind is on the to do list. The window glass has privacy surface on it, and as much as I would love to have shutters, I’m thinking they would not allow me to open the window without fussing.

I am also considering making the door slide left as a barn door on the inside of the bathroom to free up more room in front of the vanity. Easier and cheaper than putting in a pocket door? Shallow shelved storage could then go up the right side wall and would no longer be behind the open door.

How long is the current vanity? Usually they're sold in increments of 3-6 inches. 3 inches may make all the difference.

It,s 5 feet. 4 and a half would be best.
