Help!! curtain and blind colours

Hi, all I need to order some material today. we've been looking at Laura Ashley - pussy willow dove grey, or off white and then bring an accent colour in. or should we have a bit more colour in blinds.
our dining room table is a light oak from habitat.
Any help massively appreciated!!

Comments (50)There is contrast between the traditional furniture and the focal point of the floor which pops, draws attention. I would recover the sofas in cream colored soft fabric - suede. I would leave the curtains grey, and put down a large neutral area rug. The edges of the room would show the pattern of the floor. I would color the wall and add texture to it, but not too dark as the room will appear smaller. Add a picture and put a nice plant holder, large vase in the left corner of the room - an oriental-style vase. Or, a cream-stripe fabric on the sofas. Comments (7)I've had pleated blinds, metal horizontal blinds, vertical blinds, and wood blinds. Even though there are pretty pictures of blinds, blinds are not my favorite, especially vertical blinds. Blinds are impersonal, not cozy imho, and pleated blinds are very difficult to clean. They attract dust and pet hair, I think, by static, and vacuuming does not get it all. Horizontal blinds, if cracked open for some light, leave a striped pattern on the window which I don't like, are a pain to dust, and are pretty much "all or nothing", and you can't leave blinds open at night if you value privacy. Vertical blinds remind me of corporate conference rooms. Sorry, I hope I'm not offending anyone. Curtains on the other hand, can be soft and flowy, let light in without compromising privacy. You can wash them or dry clean them. You don't have to open and close every single day to adjust for light/privacy conditions. Curtains are easy to change out, and you don't need a custom size if your windows are not standard sized. I haven't had the pleasure of roman shades yet, that's my next new thing to try. 6 years agoHi, I absolutely love your kitchen. I think maybe a pop of colour in the blinds is good. I love the colour combination of yellow and grey and think this could really suit your kitchen and then you can add decorative objects which emphasise the yellow such as fruit bowls, tea-towels, fresh flowers and flower pots. Below are a few ideas.
If you wanted to be able to switch up colour palettes more often, as blinds can be expensive, maybe go with the pussy willow print. Then you can have a new accent colour every month if you wanted to.
My kitchen has a busy and dull tile work at the moment so I have used accents of green (very busy so I only had to accent with a few objects). I have only added like a draining board, a plant pot and tea towels and it really brightens the room.

If it was me advising a customer, I would be advising against roman blinds in this situation. With the doors, if you put a roman blind up, this will block a lot of light from the room even when in the open position however it would work on the window over the sink. On this basis, I would be advising roller blinds. You could pop in some colour with the roller blinds.
It doesn't make a huge difference if the kitchen and the living rooms are different colours so long as they are at different sides of the house.

6 years agothis is the table we have - we have a bench and 3 chairs - red, grey and white (previous kitchen had a red accent).
we were thinking curtain to one side for the doors and Roman in window.

6 years agoI think because you are using such small amounts of the yellow it wouldn't matter too much what colour you used. You could always include some accessories with this other colour to take the design through the house. Just a few ideas below (not quite the right colour but I hope you see what I mean).
