Small window blind for master bedroom - roman or roller
Hi,
We have a very small master bedroom to work with. The bed we have at the moment is very chunky and we are replacing this with a low contemporary bed and low headboard.
We haven't picked the bed yet but I need to install a blind prior and I am stuck between a roman blind or a roller blind.
Any comments would Be appreciated.

Comments (44)I like second plan! That space will fit the wardrobe perfectly. Take all colors from the art. The colors can be lighter or darker than the colors you see in art. Take "Venice" with you to paint store and they might be able to help you choose good colors. Idea: paint four walls the same and see if you like that. Comments (24)Keya, glad you decided to take the one reader's idea about moving the armoires in front of windows that you don't need and giving the bed a wall of its own! And, yes, you can have Roman shades on one wall and layered drapes on the other. When I had drapes made for my tall sitting room windows/doors, I had them use the same fabric for the Roman shades for the smaller windows on the other wall. For me personally, in these older Indian homes with all the odd nooks and niches in the walls, perhaps it would be more soothing to have a light/med tone paint on the walls that blends with the drapes/blinds for an 'uninterrupted' look, and I would use the same color on ceiling and beams. (but that is just my thought) I would start the process with a large carpet with your favorite colors, then choose your Bedcover & cushions, then your wall paint and fabric for drapes/blinds ..Not certain what style you like, but if you really like a particular Ethnic bedcover fabric, you can always have them stitched into curtains or Roman shades too. Comments (4)Hi. Nice to see good old wooden window shutters which means you dont need curtains and they pretty much are the main feature in the room. So you should keep them free from clutter. The wardrobe wall needs a custom full size wardrobe in white to store all that stuff. Something like this The queen size bed is too big for the room. Do think if you would prefer a single bed and study table instead. example And it looks like you seldom use the window behind the bed. 6 years agoHaha, I was hoping you wouldn't ask! Just had to quickly tidy the room before taking a picture! Here it is. In your room I would get a pole long enough to keep the curtains away from the bed.

As others have suggested, a Roller blind with a blackout fabric would be great. You mention you struggle with space in your bedroom, and Roller blinds are really great at rolling up neatly, letting in as much light as possible during the day.
And of course, you'll be able to pick a colour or pattern that enhances your design scheme, so your blind will become part of the overall look.
A Roman blind is still an option available to you, but be aware if you fit it within the recess it will take up more room than a Roller blind when at the top of the window.
