Need help with our living room please!!
Comments (33)This arrangement works much better, but some adjustments are needed to make it work. First, the fireplace grouping needs to be tightened. It crowds the dining area and you need a passageway behind the couch. Turn the rug lengthwise, parallel to the fireplace. Pull the large couch about 2 1/2 feet closer to the fireplace, and place the two chairs and loveseat on the ends of the rug, and pull them closer together. This will give you a more intimate conversation area, and not impose on the other areas of the room. Remove that floor lamp from behind the couch. If you need the light in that area, put it by the fireplace. Also, the stereo system on the mantel needs to find another home. Maybe it can go IN the fireplace instead. At the other end of the room, I think the arrangement would look better if the seating were rotated 90 degrees. Keep the rug and coffee table in its current configuration, place the sofa either facing the window or with its back to the window, and put the two chairs opposite it. Finally, the dining area. Now that you've moved the big leather chairs, you should have enough room. Your rug is too small. It should be big enough to give you at least a 2 ft. border all the way around when the chairs are pushed in. And it's a really beautiful table; please uncover it. I can't see what kind of lighting that area has. It really needs a pendant or chandelier hanging directly over the table....See Moreneed help to select curtains and carpet colour
Comments (50)There is contrast between the traditional furniture and the focal point of the floor which pops, draws attention. I would recover the sofas in cream colored soft fabric - suede. I would leave the curtains grey, and put down a large neutral area rug. The edges of the room would show the pattern of the floor. I would color the wall and add texture to it, but not too dark as the room will appear smaller. Add a picture and put a nice plant holder, large vase in the left corner of the room - an oriental-style vase. Or, a cream-stripe fabric on the sofas. You could go soft or bold in this room - depending on your taste....See MoreOur new house living room paint
Comments (3)Either go with a darker shade for your woodwork or a lighter shade for the woodwork than the wall colors. I would use either the same color for all rooms or at least within the same color family. Each room will look different if you paint them all the same anyway due to light, time, of day and your furnishings. I like to choose the very lightest shade on a particular color spectrum. In other word a white with a hint of color. The ceilings do with a soft white or an off white. If you plan to place the TV above the fireplace a darker color will look good as an accent on that wall. If you have a narrow room try a darker color on the smallest wall to balance the size of the room. If your rooms are large try a very dark brown or navy or maroon as an accent wall. Have fun painting. Remember, if you don't like it, it's just paint and paint is cheap....See MoreNeed help in designing house plan
Comments (23)As per vastu the kitchen should be in SOUTH EAST direction with the BURNER on the SE corner and the cook should face EAST while cooking. Master bedroom or the bedroom of the earning member should be in the SOUTH WEST direction. Positions of W.C. also matters . It should be facing NORTH. Beds positions of all the rooms should not be on the NORTH wall. These are the some points of vastu. If you want it in detail, you can ask me....See MoreSarah Coe Design LLC
